Crow Animation

Wednesday 18 May 2016

Week 16 Term Two

My team have met together on Monday to discuss how the animation is progressing nicely. Adrian had edited and synchronized the soundtrack with great difficulty. It is quite beautiful.

My teammates are down to three scenes to colour and sent over to Adrian to finish the final soundtrack. We should be able to finish the animation 'Guardian' soon.

I have handed in my Individual PDF and blog address on Blackboard and preparing to develop the Production Bible. I already sent in both Production and Post-Production onto the Google Drive to begin combining our work. Mine includes the crow scene development, storyboard, styles and character designs.

Week 15 Term Two

Charlotte has sent over the redesigned crow scenes of Shot 10 and Shot 14. The models are elegant. She has done them so easily because the animation is sound. The painting of the scenes was hard but simple. There had to be an extension for my team due to personal medical reasons. The deadline is now May 20th.

On Wednesday, Shot 2 should be uploaded on the Google Drive soon. AT the moment, I am finishing the PDF that documents my part in the post production stage.

The last piece of work was painting Shot 2 and the blinking crow in Shot 25 has been taken care of.

On Facebook, Mimi mentions she was in the final stages of the last scenes. Charlotte has  The two are doing a lot better as a team. Shannon is eager to have the scenes ready for the soundtrack editing.

For the moment, we are meeting up on Monday afternoon to discuss more on the project.

Week 14 Term Two

I have managed to finish painting my crow scenes. It took a while to correct the flaws in the designs. Now that the shots are done, I have uploaded the PSD files and video clips onto the Google Drive for my team to analyze. Charlotte is taking care of a few crow scenes and they are looking good. Shot 14 is of need of a background.

Everyone has to hand in their scenes before May 9th for the editing soundtrack.

Today, I am in class with my team. For my last task, I have to paint the crow in the remade scenes that Charlotte designed from my original shots.

Scene 20, 5, 25, 33, 21

Once they were done, I have uploaded them into the completed file in the Crow Stuff folder in the Google Drive.

Week 13 Term Two

The two rotoscoped scenes have finally been redesigned and are in the painting stage now. It was hard to reanimate the models but I managed to clarify them.

Today, I am going to ask Sultan more clearly about a reference for my application to MA Design. My team mates are almost beat, but we are almost finished painting our scenes.

Paul is impressed that the crow scenes are progressing nicely.

Charlotte helped me apply the crow feathers texture by adverting the lines and rubbing it out around the crow in the scenes.

Week 12 Term Two

Monday

After many days, I have finally finished animating and painting the crow on shot 2. It took a long time to analyze and match beak, eyes and body in the correct motion. I will begin the painting process on the next ten scenes. They should be ready soon for Shannon to put together in the final animation movie Guardian.

Thursday

I have shown shot 2 to my teammates and they seem to like the structure and animation. Paul has analyzed the scene and finds it quite adequate. I am glad because the scene is the hardest I have done. The colour scenes should be easier and quicker to finish now.

Week 11 Term Two

Monday

Today, I have handed in two copies of my essay to Jane, including a digital version on Blackboard. Now I am working on three scenes to correct the flaws.

Thursday

Paul has informed me of the crow flaws in shot 2. I just need to work on the alignment of the crow's beak and eyes. So far, the backgrounds are 87% done. Shannon, Mimi and Charlotte are working so exceptionally hard despite medical conditions.

Week 10 Term Two

Monday

The Easter holidays have been great. I've read a lot of books for my essay and into the final stages of its completion. I just need to finish the conclusion, get the essay printed and bound for the hand in on April 4th.

Thursday

My crow scenes are ready for a change. I just need to finish animating shot 2 and the two rotoscopes for refinement. The jump scene needs two more frames for the crow before falling.

Paul has arrived and is delivering his famous advice. My team will have to correct more mistakes in our animations. But for now, we are all trying to finish our dissertations for this week.

I need to focus on painting and fixing my scenes.

I have finally finished my 8000 word essay. I have printed two copies to be bound and ready for the hand it.

Week 9 Term Two

Monday & Tuesday & Wednesday

The days have been long and slow. It is taking forever to redesign the scenes, especially when it coming up on new animation ideas. I have studied the review on Blackboard on the necessary improvements on my scenes. Sultan and Paul Franklin had helped point out the flaws.

Scene 21: good animation. Line quality can be improved. Requires better clean up
Scene 28: needs to structure drawings more and lock down features of the face. Needs to revise and refine. The eye does not move. Features of the face need to be solid.
Scene 29: needs to look at bird flying reference. The wings are pointing downwards. Needs an extra pose. It follows an arc and that is good. Pace is nice. Change arc on wings (opposite arc for the reverse wing shape).
Scene 33: the size/volume of the photocard needs to be consistent for each key.
Scene 37: Ok
Scene 6: putting of the wings is nicely handled. Bird flying into the shot needs to be faster. Landing is fine. Quicker intro.
Scene 11: bird jumping into the box. The bird motion/pose can be changed. Most of the scenes are rotoscoped.
Scene 3: the model of the bird seem to be changing in scenes. I need to check the model sheets.
Scene 13: rotoscoped

The crow scenes all needed to be cleaned.

I made frequent visits to the library which helped me focus on my essay by reading and taking notes. I did some animation sketches to figure out how the crow animations will work logically.

Thursday

My team and I are together in class discussing the rough cut animation. I have finish converting most of my crow scenes.

Scene 3 is quite tricky, but I am managing to develop the new models. I was just informed about combing the recent PDF work with the Pre-Production.

I have finished most of the scenes and posted them onto the Google Drive for Shannon to analyze and add them into the rough cut.

Week 8 Term Two

Monday & Tuesday & Wednesday

The essay has been a nightmare. I still have to work on the referencing and structure.so far, there is over 6500 words which means there is still hope for me to finish before the deadline.

Thursday

The day has need lousy. I was bit late but managed to make it in time. Shannon, Charlotte and Mimi are eagerly planning out the colour pallets for the scenes in Post Production. In the review today, Sultan and Paul analyzed my crow scenes and gave their honest opinions on how to improve them for next week.
Despite feeling like being torn by vultures, I am confident that I can finish improving my scenes with my teammates’ help. I just need to avoid rotoscoping and learn by drawing my own version. I am collecting references related to the written words from the books and journal articles I have read. I had to be sure everything is in the right place.

Friday

Today, I am at the library. It is so overwhelming with books. I find I am more focused here than at home. I’m reading and making notes for my essay.

I have done several sketches of the crow to plan out its flight pattern.

Week 7 Term 2

Monday & Tuesday & Wednesday

The essay is progressing so well. I am gathering notes from previous journal articles to help expend on certain objectives of death and loss. There are certain struggles with the rough cut animation, but everyone is getting on great despite feeling ill.

Thursday

My team and I are doing the finishing touches on colouring and texturing the scenes. Mimi is ill, but is down to the last four girl scenes to finish. She is doing exceptionally well. Paul Franklin is glad we are progressing with the rough cut animation. If we keep this up, the work shall be ready for the deadline in two weeks.

Week 6 Term 2

Monday & Tuesday

The research for my essay has been tough. I am anxious to finish it as quick and right as possible. I am just about finish with my anime approach chapter with My Neighbor Totoro and Princess Mononoke. My hopes remain high as ever.

Thursday

I have finally finished animating scene 6, 12, 11 on the Flash. It’s just scene 13 left to animate. I am cleaning and perfecting it at the moment. There are seven scenes left to finish for the rough cut animation. My team are performing admirably. Our work is looking beautiful. Shannon is editing the scenes.

Paul Franklin really liked how far our project is progressing. He advices us to avoid stiffness in the girl scenes. Shannon, Charlotte, Mimi and I agree to speed up on the tasks by finishing off the remaining scenes.

Week 5 Term 2

Monday

I have analyzed the latest rough version of the animation. I noticed that there is a crow or two missing from the scenes. I plan on drawing out these as soon as possible. I am nearly finished improving on scene 6, 11, 12 and 13.

Tuesday & Wednesday

The books for anime and Japanese animation for my essay have been very useful. I plan meeting with my support worker on Wednesday to help me through it. It has been tough.

Thursday

Shannon, Charlotte and I are doing amazingly with our teamwork. We are in agreement in drawing and animating the last girl scenes. But first, we are revising our latest scenes before the final deadline came. Sultan and Paul seem to like the latest rough cut animation so far. They advised us to keep up on the hard work as soon as possible. The tasks my team has to do is finish at least three to five scenes per week.

Monday 15 February 2016

Week 4 Term 2

Monday

I'm doing the five new scenes for the crow. So far, I have done two and then the other three for tomorrow. I've been reading the book on the Nine Old Men of Animation. I've found information on Bambi to add to the chapter of my essay. My team is doing really great on communication.

Tuesday

I've been referencing from crow videos on YouTube to improve Scene 6, 11 & 13. Soon, I'm going to upload the rough scenes onto the Google Drive after animating them.

Thursday

My team are progressing excellently. Shannon is connecting the scenes together on Premiere Pro. Charlotte is improving a lot on keeping us organized and her work is very dynamic. Mimi is putting good effort into her scenes. She is determined to do her best and produce critical scenes.

Today, Paul Franklin really liked how bird-like my crows are doing in my scenes. I still need to add more arc to the pictures in Scene 12. There is still the last improvements to make made on Scene 6. 11 and 13. I've nearly finished timing out the scenes on Flash so I can post them onto the Google Drive.

Week 3 Term 2

Monday

Today, I went into a MD meeting for Narrative Design. It went really well that I understood that there is lot of work and dedication, but it was worth the shot. At the moment, I'm back in my flat trying to get my homework done. No free pizza for me tonight.

Tuesday

I've seen my support worker to discuss my essay and crow scenes. Everything is progressing well. There are still improvements to be made.

Thursday

Today, I'm in class doing more improvements on my crow scenes. Paul Franklin told me I still need to work on the timing. I'm working on cleaning my scenes up.

Shannon is ill again, but Mimi, Charlotte and I are doing great as a team. We're improving on the flaws of animations and planning to move on to new scenes to quicken the pace. Our opinions really do matter.

Week 2 Term 2

Monday

Throughout the weekend, I have drawn and animated my three scenes and place them on the Google Drive. I've been sick lately so I was forced to slow down.

Tuesday

I've been organizing my scene tasks off a list. My crow scenes are 12, 21, 29, 33 and 37. It has been tough, but I was in a good mood.

Wednesday

I went in at ten to meet with Jane to discuss my essay. Tonight, I have submitted my essay to Blackboard. I hope the support helps me get it done fast and right.

Thursday

I came into class to meet with my team. I was advised by Paul Franklin to redo my scenes again to add more realism to time out the crow's movement. I did so and started working on scene 12.

Friday

I went to meet my support worker at the atrium. It is great to keep in touch. I just need to find a few books to research and improve my essay.

Saturday & Sunday

I have finally finished finalizing my four crow scenes to import on the Google Drive.

Week 1 Term 2

Monday & Tuesday

I have been working on drawing and animating scene 6, 11 & 13 since Christmas. They were really hard, especially when I have to make sure the crow's movement are flowing correctly.

Its been a while since I last heard from my team. I hope they manage to get their scenes done faster and better than I am.

I went into class this morning, surprisingly no one was there. It turns out I don't have to arrive until Thursday. This helps because I can concentrate better when I am not distracted at home.

Wednesday

I went to the library at 11 to attend Jane's meeting. She did a presentation on how we all had to improve essays for the hand in next week. When I came back, I shrunk the words to my essay to a 12 and stylized to Arial. My word count was 3500 so I'm within the good zone.

Thursday

Today, my team and I are continuing to finish our scenes in a rough version for the deadline on March 18th this year. I was really confident because I was able to three scenes within three days.

Then we all met Paul Franklin, an expert animator who is the best in his line of work. It was real pleasure to meet him. He really liked how promising our animation was and willing to help out.

There was still room for improvement on my crow scenes. Paul Franklin helped pointed out the flaws on my three crow scenes which is what I needed to make them better.

Improve wings on one of the crow frames (Scene 6)

Improve on the jump speed of the crow (Scene 11)

Improve on landing position on the crow (Scene 13)

I know with teamwork and communication, we'll get our assigned work done fast by then. I plan to get my work done by the weekend.
